It’s finally here: show week! Mothers and Fathers and Kids … Oh, My! runs from May 6-9 at 2:00pm each day at Rise Church in Tigard.
Our final photo drop comes from our technical rehearsals, where we merge music, dance, comedy, monologs and graphics into one big production…

You’ll see plenty of the performers once we take the stage. But here, let’s give three cheers to some of the folks who work primarily offstage to make sure we keep you entertained…

Lennon Smith (far left), our Director, keeps a sharp eye on things. She is ably backed up (literally here) by Stage Manager Sara King who uses phones, laptops, Bluetooth or whatever it takes to keep things running smoothly.

Our tech team (from far left): George Mauro, Martha Sevcik and Eric Margeson. They are responsible for graphics and sound during our show.
Our Music Director, Mak Kastelic (right), is someone we’ve all come to lean on as we learn our songs.

This is Eric’s sheet which tracks
all 24 microphones in use
from song to song.
It really takes a village to stage an NST show … and to watch it, too! Come join our village audience from May 6 – 9 at 2:00pm each day at Rise Church in Tigard.

This show is something of a departure for NST. Instead of simply entertaining you, we have three goals: to make you laugh, make you cry (a little) and to make you think of your family and loved ones in the days leading up to Mothers’ Day.
Here are some photos from the rehearsal hall as we spring into our spring show!

As February flips to March, our rehearsals are focusing on getting small-group songs just right. Here’s a look at a little musical “sausage” being made. It starts with a quartet gathered around Music Director Mak Kastelic at the piano…

Mak works with Ali, Paula, Ron and Ralph as they start working through a particularly enchanting song about parents watching their children…

Here’s a taste of the instruction and collaboration needed to pull off a song such as this. Click on the image below to see the video, part of the NST YouTube channel. Then come hear the finished product May 6 – 9 at Rise Church in Tigard.

Rehearsals have begun for Mothers & Fathers & Kids … Oh, My!, NST’s May 2026 show. It’s a show that crosses genres as well as generations, and touches a range of emotions as we use music to look at families and family relationships. It should be a fun production, just in time for Mothers’ Day.

Earlier in the year, NST unveiled When We Were Young(er), our new initiative. We took it to several Portland-area retirement homes. Rehearsals began in December, with our first round of on-site concerts occurring from January 5-20.
These “mini-shows” showcase two smaller casts performing different collections of songs from recent NST performances. We plan on mounting a new series of such shows this summer.
